We recently got back from a road trip from Salt Lake City, UT to Milwaukee, WN and back with our dog Bucky. After two weeks sleeping in new beds every day, I’ve been changing up my routine some with a personal reset.
Undergoing a personal reset – changing up my routine a bunch.
I recently got Invisalign, which has been the biggest day to day change. I hadn’t realized it meant no eating or drinking anything with them in, which has taken some getting used to. 😅
I’m playing more games than I have in a while lately. The ones taking up the most of my time have been Slay the Spire 2 and Spirit Vale. The problem solving of Slay the Spire feels like a challenge, while the mindless bashing of enemies in new ways in Spirit Vale feels nostalgic for Ragnarok Online.
Board game wise, we’ve been playing a lot of Puerto Rico, Dune Imperium Uprising and Wingspan.
Hardcover is growing! We’re up to 130k members, and continuing to grow another 500+ readers a day no. It’s starting to feel like we’re hitting our stride. Most of the biggest issues have been dealt with, which is a fun place to be. Now we can experiment with new initiatives that are ambitious in their own ways.
The biggest swings we’re taking currently are around Recommendations (which we’re calling Vibes), Community (Discussions, Book Clubs, Events, etc) and new author pages.
On the day job side at Libro.fm I’m continuing to do fun things that will be announced when they’re ready to market them I’m sure. 🙂
We recently got new furniture for our deck, and have some shade awnings being installed soon. For a while, before it was too hot, we’d go out there every morning to have coffee and let Bucky zoom around the backyard. Once it’s a little cooler in a month, I’m looking forward to getting back out there.
On the Hardcover side I’m most excited about the new Community features we’re building. After decades of using social media, it feels refreshing to build something new, but familiar specifically for readers. It’s not based on keeping attention, but around encouraging people to read more and connect more with other people in real life. Book clubs are such a great natural way to get to know people. If we do it right, many people end up becoming friends in real life.
Later this year we have some trips planned I’m looking forward to: Las Vegas for a friends vowel renewal and to Orlando later to see family.
